When Zeus Comes Calling

The lovely folks over at Moo posed a challenge a few weeks back that struck me as interesting enough to be fun and small enough that I could still do it in spite of the craziness of there past few weeks (more on that in another post).

What was this challenge? To design a business card for Zeus. Yes, that Zeus. The one who calls Olympus home.

Of course the first image to come to mind was the lightning bolt.

But as I explored Zeus further, I was reminded that there is more to him than just a lightning bolt. I considered exploring that on the opposite side of the card.

The more I thought on it, the more I kept thinking that Zeus is the King of the Olympian Gods and there’s a certain arrogance to that. He’s not going to put a lot of different ways to contact him. You should just know. So I pared it down.

Along the same vein, he wouldn’t have any problem with putting an image of himself on the opposite side of his card.

As I was playing with what I refer to as ‘the visage’ card, I decided two things.

  1. I liked the map front but it still wasn’t quite right.
  2. One of the things I love about Moo cards is that you can print multiple backs, so I wanted to take advantage of that.

That all said, here’s what came of my pondering and playing.

The four symbols of Zeus: lighting/thunder, the eagle, the oak and the bull.

I hope you enjoy them :)
