5 Things I Love: August 6

image for weekly list of five things I'm currently loving in life, music, art, etc.

I’ve been in Nashville this past weekend so it only seems fitting to focus on some of my favorite aspects of the city for this week’s 5 Things I Love.

1. The Parthenon

One day I’d like to go to Greece and see the real Parthenon, but the cool thing about visiting the one in Nashville is that it is hasn’t been weathered by age and war so you can get a better idea of what the Parthenon would have looked like in it’s prime (though the original Athena had far more glamorous accouterments).

2. Fido

Out of all of the places that I’ve been. This remains one of my favorite coffee shops. They’ve got a great ambience, tasty beverages and an interesting menu.

3. Hatch Show Print

I first walked into the Hatch Show Print shop a decade ago and I still love visiting it with it’s walls of wood blocks for printing. It feels like stepping back into printing history and getting a look at how things used to be done.

4. Whiskey Kitchen

I just got introduced to this restaurant on this trip by my friend Katie and I am glad that I did. A whisky bar and fried green tomato BLTs. Mmm mmmm mmmmm.

5. The Music

It is, after all, Music City. As one of the musically inclined, I can’t help but appreciate that music is so ingrained into the city. Sure a lot of it is country (which you may or may not have a taste for) but there’s so much music history to appreciate just walking through the downtown much less the larger community.
